Last post

Being retired since November 2006, I will keep this blog as an archive to be visited by friends and colleagues from Telecoms who participated in these meetings.

SMW-3 - Abu Dhabi 2006

The weather forecast for the week: High 39-40ºC ; Low 27-29ºC.
A short afternoon tour in waterfront after arrival with Guenter (Germany).


Visiting 7-Star Luxury Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi.



Built in the style of a majestic palace rising from the sand, Emirates Palace is an architectural wonder, set on a 100-hectare plot, with elaborate design and unparalleled facilities created with the sole purpose of whisking its guests into a world worthy of royalty. (17/09/06).

Traditional coffee pots in Abu Dhabi. It is one of the most identifiable symbol of the Arab way of life.




Abu Dhabi is a city of mosques, with well over 400 of them and more being built each year. They range from elaborate architectural masterpieces serving thousands of worshippers to small, modest rooms conveniently located.

Heroes Diner Night Club and Pub at Crown Plaza Hotel in Abu Dhabi. Winner of the Favourite Pub Grub category, Heroes is a relaxed and fun setting offering a wide selection of snacks, where I had some beers and said goodbye to my friends, after anouncing my retirement.

SAT-3 - Assen 2006


A complete week without posting, to attend SAT3/WASC/SAFE Cable System AR&RSC meeting in Assen, Holland, hosted by KPN, in July 2006.

After meeting we had the chance to confirm Assen is not only the place of World Superbike Championship. Although has no historical monuments, the Provincial Museum is worth a visit, as well as the windmill museum (Molenmuseum) De Wachter.
